Sylvester The CatFrom category: Cartoon Characters Sylvester The Cat is another of the infamous characters from the Looney Tunes stables, first seen in 1941 (although unnamed). Future outings would see him chasing many, all and sundry, but most famously Tweetie Pie and Speedy Gonzales. Sylvester even had the misfortune to be 'syndicated' in a cartoon show, involving himself, Tweetie Pie, Spike the Dog (not Spike from Tom & Jerry, by the way!!) and Granny (who always seemed to own him, buy Tweetie Pie and bash him over the head when trying to do just what cats do... and eat the birdie!)... and this slightly odd foursome would travel the world solving mysteries... I can safely say I have seen other, more workable combinations, but I digress... I'm here to present a fully working - thufferin' thuccotash!! - Sylvester dialect... pleathe enjoy! In case anyone was wondering, succotash is a meal, originally Native American, consisting mainly of lime beans and corn (maize), although meat was occasionally used. The exact meaning varies across America, but that is the main one. A little more work discovers the actual meaning behind 'suffering succotash'. It is, in fact, an expletive term! The Wikipedia page on the subject, shows similar such mashings of originally quite profane terms. (The original meaning of suffering succotash is "Suffering Saviour", and this is used to imply profanity without actually using profanity itself) I have included the phrase for accuracy on the part of Sylvester - we can't be too hard on him, now, can we?
