GeordieFrom category: Dialects The 'Geordie' accent refers to people living the broad north east of England, and more specifically to people living in the Tyneside area, although it has been incorrect used to refer to people of the region in general (just like I did there). It is a very distinctive accent, but unlike some other accents that I have heard, this seems to follow several basic and fundamental rules (instead of replacing words with local slang as other regions do, or simply altering how words are stressed, as seen in some variants of English in America) (This one is entirely down to watching an old re-run of "Auf Wiedershen, Pet" on satellite TV in July 2007.) Unfortunately this voice is only 'coming soon', it is not available yet from The Voices of Many online. It should - hopefully - be available soon... Related links |
