Machine Translation Links
Some websites provide translation between spoken/written languages. Such features are not always totally reliable but can provide a good idea of what is going on in the original text.
The Voices of Many is not responsible for the content on these pages, and at the time of writing, the links were accessible. The Voices of Many is also an independent production and is not affiliated or otherwise related to any of the below sites.
So far, we have 5 for you to enjoy.
- BabelFish - inspired by the creation of Douglas Adams (from the Babel Fish in "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy"), this site was one of the first machine translators of language available on the Web. Many still swear by it.
- Google - the famous web search engine provides links to translate between languages on its site. Also, based on a similar principle, it offers on-the-fly translations from Word documents and Adobe Acrobat PDF files, not to mention the now infamous Elmer Fudd and Swedish Chef dialects as found elsewhere on the Internet (this was almost enough to get it a mention on the Comedy page).
- Lingo24 offers a free online Arabic-English and English-Arabic dictionary, an Arabic language paraphrasing tool and English language paraphrasing tool. Also available is a collection of free online multilingual translation tools.
- SpamMimic translates a short message into unrecognisable text, which looks a lot like random spam-type email. They also provide a decoder, so you can copy/paste a spamMimic email into it and get the actual message back.
- SysTran Translation Software - these producers of translation software (which you can buy if you want) have made a demo available through their website so you can decide for yourself if it is of use to you.
